Matt Steffanina
There is a choreographer who is famous on YouTube, named Matt Steffanina. He choreographs modern and contemporary dances, and works with his fiancée Dana. Recently, a new season of The Amazing Race started and Matt and Dana are on it. To see them outside of the dancing world is very different. You can see that when they are not dancing, they do not work very well together. I really like Matt as a choreographer and dancer because he dances to the new music that everybody is listening to at that time, and his dances are very hard to learn which makes it look so much nicer and cooler.
Winter Arts Festival
A few weeks ago, on February 10th, our school had a winter arts festival. This is where some students from each talent perform or show their art. Me, a few other 8th graders, and all of the 7th graders in the dance talent were performing a dance choreographed to the song "I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran. Before we performed, I thought the dance was very good. Only until we rehearsed the dance on stage with all the other dancers, we realized there were way too many dancers on the stage at once. I think it would have been much better if there were less dancers.

Tap and the Winter Arts Festival
This unit in dance at 447, we are doing tap. I used to take tap classes when I was 6 for 1 year and then quit because at that time I didn't really like it. Now that I am older and I am trying it out again I think I may like it. We started off with the basic dance steps like shuffle and heel dig. We have started the choreography to this units dance. Our schools' winter arts festival is in February. Me and a few other students are going to be dancing to a song from the Nutcracker which the music groups jazz band will be playing. I remember seeing the nutcracker last year with my family. It was very impressive. I am also doing another dance at the festival and the song is by Ed Sheeran. It is a really cool dance so I am very excited about that.
"Rolling in the Deep" dance reflection
I really enjoyed this dance. I think it was a good idea for them to use props, and how they used the handcuffs, was a really cool and creative idea, and I think it worked really well. I like how it started with only 2 people and then more people came onto the stage to make it look more dramatic. I also like how the whole group comes together in the chorus and then there are smaller groups of students in the other parts pf the song. It seems pretty difficult and I'm sure it is hard to coordinate with so many people in the dance too. I think they did a very good job.

Salsa Reflection
I think that this year, Salsa is much better and more interesting than last year. We are doing more things without partners. Also, with partner work, we are doing more interesting and intricate movements than last year, and it is more fun to do. However, this year we are learning at a much faster pace than last year, and sometimes it is hard to keep up with choreography that Ms. Rebecca teaches us. If she went a little bit slower and explained things to us a little bit better, I think it would be even better than it already is, and it is already great.
